1.You need to get the builder’s mod/better Obsidian file. This webpage has a download for both at the bottom, or you can manually received it from me-but you need the file. (Note: it might say that the file could be dangerous, but it is not, you can keep it.)

2.(Note: If you already have minecraft forge for 1.8, skip steps 2-5.)Go to https://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.8.html. Click the Windows Installer under “Download Latest”.

3. This will take you to an “ad-fly” webpage. DO NOT, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING UNDER THE GRAY BAR. ANYTHING UNDER IT IS AN ADD, AND CAN INSTALL VIRUSES IN YOUR COMPUTER/PC. Just click the “Skip” button at the top of the page. This will start a download. Go to your files. Find the launcher that you have just downloaded. (Note: If it says anything besides “forge-1.8-11.14.4.1577-installer-win (1).exe” DO NOT CLICK IT! Uninstall that file, and try again.) Double click it, and complete the instructions.

4. Once the download is complete, go to your files. At the top, search “%appdata%. They click “.minecraft” Then click “versions”. Once you are there, you should see if you have something that says something like ”1.8-forge1.8-11.14.4.1577”. If you do, you did everything right up to now!

5. Next, find the Builder’s Mod/Better Obsidian file and copy it. Go to “%appdata% then “.minecraft” then to “mods”. Left-click, then click “Copy”.

6. If you do not have the updated launcher, skip this step. Open the minecraft launcher. Go to “Launch Options” then click “Add New”. You can name the configuration, if you desire, but you have to change the version to “release 1.8-forge1.8-11.14.4.1577”. It should be all the way at the bottom. Save it, then go back to “News”. Click the arrow next to the play button, then click “release 1.8-forge1.8-11.14.4.1577”. Again, it should be near the bottom.

7. If you have to updated launcher, skip this step. Open the minecraft launcher, then click “Update Profile”. Just change the version to release “1.8-forge1.8-11.14.4.1577”. Click save.

8. Play Minecraft! The starting screen will be different, bars will fill up. Once in the menu, click mods. Go to the list, then scroll all the way down. (Note: It is OK to have other mods besides the builder’s mod in this list. Forge needs some of these mods to work. There should only be 3 extra, though.). If the Builder’s Mod is at the bottom, you have done well! Go start playing and exploring the Builder’s Mod! (Note: The Minecraft Forge that I showed how to download can be used to play other 1.8 minecraft mods! Install them using the technique in step 6!)
